Course

The consecutive master programme in Business Administration (MSc BA) with a major in Innovation Management is a consequential extension of the bachelor programme in Business Studies.

This study course is structured in an inter-disciplinary and multi-media manner. It conveys to students the fundamental knowledge in the relevant academic fields and adapts itself to the demands of the national and international labour markets. You will be able to learn, develop and apply innovative ideas in a scientific-oriented research environment.

The MSc programme has a duration of five semesters and encompasses 90 ECTS-credits.

  • Semester 1 and 2: General Management, 18 ECTS-credits
  • Semester 3 and 4: Innovation Management, 30 ECTS-credits
  • Semester 1 to 5: Economics Research, 42 ECTS-credits

The availability of online/English-taught modules will be further expanded over time. Wherever an online/English-taught module is already in place, it can be exchanged with the german/blended-learning module. The choice will be finalized before the start of each term. Study costs and the overall duration of the programme are not altered by the mode of study.

The FFHS is the only university of applied sciences in Switzerland to offer all degree programmes in the blended learning model: 80% of your studies are completed online, 20% take place as face-to-face teaching. For face-to-face teaching, you choose one of the following options:

Monday evening (every Monday 5.45pm – 9.00pm)

  • Zurich: hybrid class with the choice of on-site (at the Zurich campus Gleisarena directly at the main train station) and online*
  • Bern: on-site (at the campus Welle7 directly at the main train station)

Tuesday evening (every Tuesday 5.45pm – 9.00pm)

*Hybrid Model

The MSc Business Administration offers two possibilities to attend face-to-face classes: on-site and online. In the hybrid model, you join the on-site class online and interact with your fellow students as well as on-site lecturers. The model enables you to study completely independent of your location and benefit from our courses. Examinations can be sat home-based (remotely), at any global location. The online class is offered as an additional option in case of high demand and is conducted exclusively online.

Organisational Aspects

Please take note of the following important dates:

  • Application deadline: 30th November and 31st May (with study place guarantee), late applications are possible if study places are still available).
  • Study Start: End of January and August

The costs of the consecutive Master in Business Administration are made up of the following :

  • Students with Swiss residence and Swiss citizens living abroad: CHF 8'100.–
  • Students with foreign residence: CHF 17'100.–

(include: study fee, online-supervision and learning platform incl. access to the digital library, regular examination fees)

The teaching materials are not included in the tuition fee. The syllabi indicate which materials would have to be organised additionally.

In addition, there is a registration fee of CHF 150.–.

Costs for the study tour taking place in the 4th semester (incl. flight, accommodation, food etc.)

  • From within Europe : CHF 500.– to 2'000.–
  • From overseas: CHF 2'000.– to 4'000.–

Students wishing to pursue the MSc BA are required to have accomplished a degree from the following list of entry requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Studies (University or University of Applied Sciences)
  • A diploma in business administration (University or University of Applied Sciences) (according to the credits system before the Bologna-reform)
  • A Bachelor degree or a four-year diploma in Economics/Business studies (according to the credits system before the Bologna-reform) or a similar subject area (e.g. Business Informatics or Industrial Engineering and Management)

Students have the possibility to complete any pending conditions set out by the FFHS until the beginning of the 3rd semester.  

Proof of Certificates

  • English competency at minimum level B2, based on the Common European Framework for languages (Certificate or Bachelor/Diploma Certificate)
  • German certificate at level C1 (for non-native German students)

Modules will be taught in German. Reading lists and academic literature (such as books, articles and other publications) will mostly be assigned in English. International topics and projects will also be worked on in English. Seminar work, research papers, reports and the master thesis can be submitted either in German or English.

Future Workshop

The international Future & Innovation is a creative workshop and a source of inspiration for new perspectives in approaching visions, ideas and future challenges. It takes place abroad within the framework of a 3 to 5-day study trip.

Recognition and Accreditation
The FFHS is officially recognised as a University of Applied Sciences by the Swiss Federation. The Master programme in Business Administration is officially accredited since 2012. The programme orients itself based on the demands from national and international labour markets and is conducted based on the Bologna-frameworks for education.
