Laboratory for Web Science (LWS)

The Laboratory for Web Science (LWS) is a joint research unit of the FFHS department of informatics and the SUPSI information systems and networking institute (ISIN). The FFHS focuses on three research areas: complex networks, recommender systems and semantic web.

The term web science was envisaged by Tim-Berners Lee. Web science treats WWW and Internet as research subjects on their own. The field is highly inderdisciplinary: computer scientists, physicists and mathematicians develop and share new ideas and concepts for the 'next internet'.
